My Little Loves

Where have you been all my life....

I usually head over to the antique mall once a week while my daughter is in preschool.  This way I can shop alone without having to rush through the aisles and watch little hands touching glassware and antique trinkets.  On my last trip I spotted a small pile of antique sewing books and in between two of them was this little gem...

How have I been able to live without this little device!   It is amazing for pressing hems.  I have been using it non-stop on all my projects.  On the other side of this, where it's flat on top, it has markings for straight hems too.  I have never seen this before and thought I had won the lotto with this little treasure though all I had to do was a quick search on the internet to see that you can get it anywhere. Oh well.....so I had to go to an antique mall to find this instead of JoAnn's....what are you gonna do.

I also found this cool minty green vase for $3.50.  Won't this look great with some fresh cut summer flowers? 

Bun in the oven.....

and something for me when I use the oven!  I decided that since Nissa has been blessed with a handmade apron, I needed to match. I don't have an apron but have been enjoying looking at all the one's made by the talented people on blog land.   So I went through my fabric stash and found this beautiful floral fabric from Heather Bailey's Freshcut line.  The pattern is another one from my Amy Butler In Stitches book.  Now for my main question - how do you wear this when you are pregnant?  Is it over the bump or under the bump? 

I had a great find at the antique store today.  Look at this little treasure:

Such cute things to make with Nissa.  I'm so glad she is at the age where she enjoys making crafts.  I look forward to the time when she will be able to knit and sew.  I can't wait to see what she'll come up with!

Beautiful things...

I would have to say that I am in love with the etsy website.  I find such interesting and beautiful things and many times cannot resist purchasing them.  Here are some from my last weakness in the wallet:

These wonderful items are from paperflowergirl.  I pretty much love everything she makes. 

I have been busy finishing totebags and hats for my donation to the Cheer Guild.  I have lots of things to share with you that have been made by many people.   I hope the children in the hospital can really use and enjoy the hand crafted items that have been made with much love.

Being 24 weeks pregnant, you can imagine that I have bouts of energy as well as bouts of just plain tiredness.  Luckily, more often than not, it has been much more of the former.  In the past two days, I have made many crafts with my daughter (tried to do this crayon heart craft but it didn't work out Martha - where did I go wrong?), completed two lovely hats, and taken my daughter to a long overdue antique mall excursion which is around the corner from our home (as to which she said she will no longer go with me).  So I have been utilizing this energy to the fullest.  I hope it continues!

I just have to share a picture of this little pot we got yesterday for $5, due to a repaired crack.  I just love the green color.  It is not a complete match to anything in my living room at the time but it brings a smile to my face reminding me of spring days ahead!
